The East End Fringe Festival will present a series of original plays and poetry in Riverhead beginning July 26 and running through August 6.

According to a press release issued by the theater group, the first of eight original plays set to premiere July 26 at Riverhead’s historic Vail-Leavitt Music Hall is “a brain-tingling drama set in a dystopian future [titled] “Fifty-Flat,” where a single test determines your entire future.” An opening night reception for all attendees will follow. Tickets for the event are $25. The show starts at 7 p.m.

Following the model for fringe festivals held in Scotland, Miami, Prague, Asheville and other locales, the East End Fringe Festival will feature original full-length plays, short plays and poetry chosen from entries that have been screened by a judging panel and curated by festival producers Debbie Slevin and Cindy Clifford.

On July 27 TheaterExpress will present free performances on the art stage at Riverhead’s popular Alive on 25 street fair. The Fringe’s own theater troupe will debut sets of short original plays open to the public.

On July 28 there will be three shows. At 7 p.m. Fifty Flat, at 8:30 The Supreme Beings and at 9:30 Priapism (mature audiences only). Tickets for the evening are $25 single show/ $45 all shows.

July 29 brings three shows again. At 7 p.m. Fifty Flat, at 8:30 Mr. Danby’s Son and at 9:30 Priapism (mature audiences only). Tickets for the evening are $25 single show/ $45 all shows.

The Dark Horse Restaurant will be hosting a New Orleans jazz brunch at 11 a.m.on July 30. Tickets are $45 per person.

On August 1 Project Poetry presents Suffolk County’s Poet Laureate and other notable poets on stage at the Vail-Leavitt.

Two more shows hit the stage on August 2. Mr. Danby’s Son starts the evening at 7 p.m., then at 8:15 Leaving Evelyn will be presented. A Talk-Back will follow the end of Leaving Evelyn. Tickets are $25 per single show/ $35 both shows plus the Talk-Back.

August 3 will bring a reprise of Leaving Evelyn at 7 p.m. and BREAK OUT! at 8:45. Tickets are $25 single show/ $35 both shows.

Three shows are scheduled for August 4. Mr. Danby’s Son opens the evening at 7 p.m. At 8 The Supreme Beings makes its second appearance at the festival and at 9, the show closes with a reprise of Leaving Evelyn. Tickets are $25 single show/ $45 all shows.

Performances on August 5 include a 7 p.m. presentation of Death Be Not Loud & Heaven On Hold, BREAK OUT! at 8, and Priapism at 9:30 (mature audiences only). Tickets are $25 single show/ $45 all shows.

The festival concludes on August 6 with The Supreme Beings at 6:30 p.m. and BREAK OUT! at 7:30. Tickets for the evening are $25 single show/ $35 both shows.
