This evening’s Townscape concert, featuring the band Southbound has been relocated to the Polish Town Civic Association pavilion on Osborn Avenue and Lincoln Street and will go on rain or shine.
Today’s rainy forecast prompted the move, said Councilman James Wooten, who organizes the summer concert series.
“Tonight’s a big concert, ‘A Tribute to America,’ with Southbound,” Wooten said yesterday. “We invited all the vets and expect a large turnout, so I didn’t want to take a chance on the weather.”
The Friday night concerts are held in the open air in downtown’s Grangebel Park and, with the exception of the annual performance by the Long Island Sound Symphony Orchestra, don’t have a rain location.
The Polish Town Civic Association is setting up for its big annual street fair this weekend.
“They were nice enough to let us use the pavilion,” Wooten said.
Southbound is a popular country music band on Long Island and always draws a good-sized crowd.
The concert, which begins at 7 p.m., is free to attend. Concert-goers should bring their lawn chairs.
