Today the Riverhead Free Library will celebrate the Second Annual Latin American Family Fiesta, a community celebration for parents and children with music, dancing, games and snacks.

The event marks the end of this year’s National Hispanic Heritage Month, which first started in 1968, and is observed from September 15 to October 15.

This 30-day period looks to “recognize the contributions made and the important presence of Hispanic and Latino Americans to the United States and celebrate their heritage and culture,” according to the official website.

The fiesta takes place from 6 to 8 p.m. at the library, located at 120 Court Street.
