Jamesport firefighters doused a vehicle fire in a farm vehicle in Jamesport this afternoon.

Firefighters were called to Gabrielsen’s Farms on Herricks Lane at 12:45 p.m. on the report of a vehicle fire. They arrived to find a fire in a pickup truck that was being used to plow snow on the farm’s roadways.

Jamesport firefighters responded with two engines and fire police. They stretched hose lines from both vehicles to douse the flames, said Second Assistant Chief Steve Czelatka Jr. It was quickly extinguished, he said. No one was injured. The cause of the fire wasn’t readily apparent, said Czelatka. “It was an older vehicle that has seen a lot of use.”

Firefighters used about 1,000 gallons of water to put the fire out. “And it iced up pretty quick” in today’s frigid temperatures, Czelatka said.
