A 25-year-old man was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital last night for treatment of multiple stab wounds sustained in a fight with two other males on Maple Avenue.
Riverhead Police said officers responding to a 7:21 p.m. call about a fight at a residence at 331 Maple Avenue found the victim bleeding from stab wounds to the head, back, arm and hand.
Police searched the area and located two suspects in the Main Street area, according to a police press release.
An investigation was conducted at the scene and both suspects were found to be involved in the incident and were subsequently placed under arrest and transported to Riverhead Police Department where they were processed on charges of Assault second degree and held for arraignment, police said.
Arrested were Michael Lozano-Bueno, 17 of Riverhead and Juan Jose Valencia Serna, 18, also of Riverhead.
The victim, whom police did not identify, is in stable condition and is expected to fully recover from his injuries, police said.
Riverhead Police Chief David Hegermiller said Lozano-Bueno and Valencia were in a fight with the victim in the backyard of the residence. The victim’s wounds were inflicted by a broken bottle or bottles, he said.
The incident remains under investigation, Hegermiller said.
