Riverhead defeated Huntington 12-7 in a rain-soaked game at home yesterday.

The teams played evenly through three quarters, trading the lead back and forth.

Huntington took a 4-2 lead into the half. The third quarter started with several drenching, quick downpours, slowing the pace a bit. 

The game was tied at 6 in the fourth quarter when Riverhead surged and struck for six goals. Huntington was only able to add one more.

Dalton Lucas had 4 goals, 1 assist, Kamryn Gill had 3 goals, 3 assists, Conner Kalmus had 2 goals, 4 assists, Caleb Zuhoski had 2 goals, 2 assists, and Conner Grauer had 1 goal. Dan Mastropaolo was solid at the “X”, winning the bulk of the face-offs.

Riverhead’s next home game is Saturday at 10 a.m. against Half Hollow Hills East at the Pulaski Street Sports Complex.
