A Riverhead man was arrested on drug charges yesterday after caught driving the wrong way on a divided highway in Riverside.
Southampton Town Police said that Julian Wright, 45, was observed operating a vehicle southbound in the northbound lane of Nugent Drive (County Road 94) in Riverside at about 1 p.m. Responding officers stopped Wright and found that he was operating a vehicle while his ability was impaired by the use of an unspecified drug.
He was charged with driving while ability impaired, a class E felony; aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the first degree, a class E felony and criminal possession of a controlled substance seventh degree, a class A misdemeanor.
Wright was processed at Southampton Town Police Headquarters yesterday was was held for morning arraignment in Southampton Town Justice Court.
