Update: The Riverhead PAL Bike Rodeo has been postponed to May 20 due to inclement weather in the forecast on May 19.
Kids have a chance to compete for a brand-new bicycle on Sunday, May 20 in the Riverhead Police Athletic League’s annual bike rodeo.
The event takes place at Stotzky Park, beginning at 12:30 p.m. Children must be able to ride a two-wheeler and a helmet is necessary to compete in the rodeo.
The bike rodeo is free and open to all Riverhead Town residents in kindergarten through sixth grade. Kids compete on a bike safety course designed by the American Automobile Association. Bikes will be awarded to the winner of each grade group: K-2, 3-4 and 5-6. Other prizes are awarded to the top finishers in all grade categories.

“This event is a positive experience for the children in our community. They learn valuable bike safety tips while getting a chance to meet police officers in a friendly setting,” Riverhead PAL said in a press release.
In case of inclement weather, please call 727-5744 ext. 30.
Stotzky Park is located at 55 Columbus Avenue in Riverhead.
