Six Glenwood Village couples celebrating milestone wedding anniversaries were feted by their neighbors and Riverhead Town Supervisor Laura Jens-Smith Thursday evening.
Celebrating 65 years: Delores and Buddy McInerney, Joan and Irv Hitzler, and Barbara and Thomas Kluko
Celebrating 60 years: Cathrine and Fred Eyster, Marie and Frank Martorano
Celebrating 55 years: Diane and Bob Zeluff
Glenwood Village Board President Lori Slanina says the board recognizes anniversaries annually at open meetings, but “to have six couples in our community celebrating such significant anniversaries this year is very unusual and all the more worth celebrating.”
The couples brought along their wedding photos and were given boutonnieres and bridal bouquets by their Glenwood neighbors. During the celebration, which included anniversary cake, Riverhead Town Supervisor Laura Jens-Smith presented each with a proclamation stating in part that they are “an inspiration to all married couples.”
