A new free shuttle service on the North Fork launched yesterday.

North Fork Link will provide hop-on, hop-off service on Saturdays through Aug. 25.

Vans equipped with leather seats, wifi and power outlets will provide transportation on two routes from Riverhead to Greenport, an initiative of the North Fork Promotion Council.

Shuttles will run every 30 to 45 minutes between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. Real time information and location updates will be available via the North Fork Now app.

On-board local “concierges” will assist passengers with their itineraries, answer questions, and provide information about the North Fork.

The shuttle service aims to allow visitors to enjoy the wineries, breweries, restaurants, shops, art galleries and various points of interest in the region at their own pace without worrying about driving or parking.

North Fork Link is funded with an Empire State Development grant obtained by the North Fork Promotion Council in an effort to alleviate traffic problems on local roads.
