“Run for someone who needs you,” is the slogan of a local college honor society’s 5K walk/run scheduled for Oct. 7.
Alpha Eta Psi, Phi Theta Kappa’s local chapter at Suffolk County Community College’s Eastern campus is holding the 5K fundraiser. The honor society will donate runners’ registration fees to Long Island Wins, a nonprofit communications organization that focuses on immigration issues on Long Island and beyond.

In addition to the race, there will be a 50/50 raffle and lunch available for purchase, which will help to support the Honor Society’s many endeavors throughout the 2018-2019 school year.
Registration for the race begins at 8:30 a.m. The race begins at 10 a.m. The entry fee for early registrants is $10. Those who register on the day of the race will pay $15.
