Police are seeking information about an early morning vehicle fire in the woods near Exit 73 of the L.I. Expressway early this morning.
The fire is thought to be suspicious in nature, police said.
Riverhead Police were notified of the fire at 2:17 a.m., according to a police press release. Riverhead Fire Department was notified and responded to extinguish the fire.
vehicle, which has not yet been identified, was on fire in the woods to the west of the Exit 73 ramp, police said. There was no operator or passenger at the scene.
The Riverhead Fire Marshal, Riverhead Police detective division and Suffolk County Police Department arson section are investigating, police said.
