The dates and times of the upcoming community forums on the Riverhead school district’s capital project proposal have been changed to allow for a later start-time.

The new dates and times are:
• Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2019 at 7 p.m.
• Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2019 at 7 p.m.
• Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2019 at 7 p.m.

All meetings will take place at Riverhead High School, room 133, 700 Harrison Avenue, Riverhead.

The changes come in response to feedback given by community members who attended the Sept. 19 forum, the first of four scheduled sessions for community discussion. People who attended the session last week said the scheduled 5:30 p.m. time for the upcoming forums was too early for most working people to attend.

The district is proposing a $100 million capital construction project to accommodate projected student enrollment increases.

About 30 community members turned out for the first forum on Sept. 19 and voiced complaints about the surging student population, which they blamed on overcrowded rentals in the Town of Riverhead and on town officials for failing to enforce town code.
