Riverhead Police are investigating a robbery reported last night in the State Supreme Court parking lot on Court Street.
Police said a 51-year-old man reported being pushed to the ground and robbed at knifepoint of $600 cash at abut 10 p.m. Friday in the parking lot behind the court building.
The victim told police two Black males, in their 20s, both about 6 feet tall with thin builds, pushed him to the ground and demanded money, according to a police press release issued early this morning. One man displayed a knife while the other removed cash from his pants pocket, the victim told police.
Both suspects then fled eastbound in the parking lot to Griffing Avenue, according to the report.
Riverhead patrol units and K-9 officers searched the area with negative results, police said.
