Riverhead’s annual Santa parade and bonfire have been postponed from Saturday to Sunday due to weather concerns, according to the Business Improvement District Management Association.
The event was originally scheduled for last Saturday but was postponed due to an inclement weather forecast. Saturday weather forecast shows a 100% chance of rain in Riverhead during the day and into the night, according to the National Weather Service.
The 69th Riverhead Lions Club Holiday Parade will step off Sunday at 3 p.m. on West Main Street and end at the Peconic Riverfront around 4 p.m. The community bonfire will take place at the riverfront immediately after the parade. There will be free hot cocoa — bring your own Thermos — and caroling. Santa will be available for pictures in his gingerbread house from 4 to 6 p.m.
