Riverhead Highway Department crews are clearing snow from Pulaski Street today. Portions of the road are closed down while snow clearing is taken place, so motorists should use an alternate route.

Highway Superintendent Mike Zaleski said the clearing is for safety purposes.

“Pulaski is so narrow to begin with, so I wanted to get the snow out of the road as soon as possible,” he said. The street is being cleared in three sections.

Zaleski said he’s not sure if crews will begin clearing snow from Main Street next.

“I want to concentrate on clearing drains and making sure they’re not clogged before the temperature warms up this week,” he said.

The temperature is forecast to reach the mid-40s on Thursday and Friday.
