A bicyclist struck by a car in the intersection of Flanders Road and Route 105 Thursday night was airlifted to an area hospital for treatment, Southampton Town Police said in a press release last night.

Police said the cyclist was westbound on Flanders Road at about 9 p.m. when he entered the intersection with Route 105 and was struck by a southbound vehicle. The driver of the vehicle had a green light, according to police.

The cyclist, Richard Valentino, 32, whom police described as undomiciled, was conscious and alert at the scene. Flanders-Northampton volunteer ambulance responded to treat the victim, who was subsequently airlifted by a Suffolk County Police helicopter to an area hospital, police said.

The driver of the vehicle, Amanda Reyes, 19, of Manorville, was on her way home from work, police said. Police did not report any injuries to the driver or any tickets issued to either party.

Police said the investigation is ongoing and ask anyone with information regarding the crash to contact Southampton Town Police Detective Division at 631-702-2230.
