A Riverhead man was killed in a motor vehicle crash in Hauppauge early this morning, Suffolk County said in a press release.
Brendan Haverty, 26, a passenger in one of the two vehicles involved in the crash, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner, police said.
The driver of the 2019 Toyota in which Haverty was a passenger, Abhishek Mukherjee, 42, of Hicksville, and the driver of the other vehicle, a 2011 Ford Econoline van, Daneris Garcia Marquez, 19, of Wyandanch, were transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries, according to police. Two male passengers in Garcia’s vehicle, ages 18 and 25, were also transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Suffolk Police Fourth Squad detectives are investigating the crash, which occurred at 1:35 a.m. on Route 347 and Brooksite Drive in Hauppauge.
The vehicles were impounded for safety checks. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to call theFourth Squad at 631-854-8452.
