Riverhead Police have arrested a Middle Island man on multiple felony charges in connection with a May 28 shooting incident outside Mambo Grill and Lounge on East Main Street that injured two men.

Paul Houpe, 29 is facing charges of Attempted Assault in the First Degree (two counts), Assault in the Second Degree (two counts), Criminal Use of a Firearm in the Second Degree (two counts), Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree (two counts) following his arrest today, police said in a press release.

Houpe was involved in a disturbance during which shots were fired outside the rear of Mambo Grill and Lounge on Saturday, May 28 at about 1:20 a.m., according to the police report. Two males were injured in the incident and required treatment at Peconic Bay Medical Center, police said.

The Riverhead Police Detective Division and the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office conducted an investigation that resulted in the arrest, police said.

Houpe was processed on the above charges and held for arraignment in Riverhead Justice Court, police said.
