Riverhead High School seniors Adriana Martinez and Dillon Zaleski have received the 2025–2026 New York State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance Suffolk Zone Awards, an annual honor recognizing students for achievement and leadership in health and physical education.
The awards are presented each year to one male student and one female student from each Suffolk County high school. Students are selected based on physical fitness, citizenship and leadership, according to a press release issued by the Riverhead Central School District Wednesday.
The district presented Adriana and Dillon with their awards at the high school’s academic awards night on May 26.
“As Blue Waves, Adriana and Dillon have demonstrated remarkable character, sportsmanship and success,” Superintendent Robert Hagan said in the release. “The district proudly congratulates them on this accomplishment and looks forward to these cultivated values continuing to support them on their journeys.”
