Candidates for the Republican Party nomination in the First Congressional District, Michelle Bond, Anthony Figliola and Nick LaLota will face off in a debate Aug. 8 hosted by the League of Women Voters.

A Republican Congressional primary debate will be held on Monday, Aug. 8 from 7 to 8 p.m. on Southampton Town’s SEA-TV hosted by the League of Women Voters of the Hamptons, Shelter Island and North Fork.

The three candidates to participate include CEO of Association for Digital Asset Markets Michelle Bond of Port Jefferson, lobbyist with Empire Government Strategies and former Deputy Supervisor of Brookhaven Town Anthony Figliola of East Setauket and Chief of Staff to the Suffolk County Legislature and former Republican Commissioner of Suffolk County Board of Elections Nicholas LaLota of Amityville.

The public is invited to submit questions for the candidates to LWV Voter Services Committee Chair Barbara McLancy via email at bmcc343@aol.com by Aug. 5.

The primary election will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 23. The winner of the primary will face Democratic candidate, attorney and Suffolk County Legislator Bridget Fleming of Sag Harbor in the general election on Tuesday, Nov. 8.
