The Riverhead Anti-Bias Task Force invites the community to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with SEPA Mujer at the Riverhead Free Library, Tuesday Sept. 6 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Admission is free and all are welcome.

What better reason to celebrate or to learn more about the colorful Hispanic and Latinx history and culture than in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept. 15 – Oct. 15).  As SEPA Mujer has long supported the success and well-being of LI Latina women and children, they will also highlight local Latina leaders and Myth-Bust common misconceptions in the interest of a more united community

As Executive Director Martha Maffei explains, “By celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month, we are not only celebrating folklore and food, we are honoring our ancestors, families and community leaders that build the path for new generations.” It also “highlights not only our heritage and culture, but also our contribution as Latina/o/x and Hispanics in our community,” she said.

The Town of Riverhead Anti-Bias Task Force, like every ABTF in Suffolk County, is here to guard against the impacts of bias, to support and assist anyone whose appearance, beliefs, life style or heritage poses a threat to their well-being, and to encourage the understanding that, for as we may appear to be different, we’re all very much the same.
