The Suffolk Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution once again celebrated Flag Day at Pulaski Street School in Riverhead. The 5th grade classes are truly a wonderful audience being so attentive and the Suffolk Chapter always looks forward to this annual program. Thanks to the Windcrest East Veterans, American Legion, VFW, and the NJROTC for their participation in this event.

The Riverhead Free Library 2023 Adult Summer Reading “All Together Now” theme for this June 17 to August 11 program. Register and read books to be eligible to win prizes in their weekly raffle drawings. Riverhead Free Library cardholders in good standing can read or listen any full-length book to get a chance to win. The Friends of the Riverhead Free Library thanks to their generosity of weekly raffle drawings that will be held every Friday at 12 noon on June 23, 30, July 7, 14, 21, 28 and August 4. The grand prize drawing will be held on Friday, August 11.
Check out the many weekly and monthly clubs held at the Riverhead Free Library such as Bridge on Mondays 1 pm to 4 pm and Chess on Mondays 5:45 pm to 7:45 pm, Mahjongg on Wednesdays from 1 pm to 3 pm, the Stamp Club meets 2nd and Last Thursday from 6 pm to 7 pm and Canasta on Fridays at 1 pm to 3 pm. The Long Island Antique Power Association features 100 years of Farmall on Saturday, July 8 and Sunday, July 9 from 9 am to 4 pm at 5951 Sound Avenue in Riverhead. There will be large and small antique engine display, garden and large tractor pull, kids’ corner and vintage racecars. Enjoy the Saw Mill Demonstrations and Blacksmith Demonstrations which depicts preserving the past for the future. Donation is $10, children under 12 free and all Veterans admitted free. The Eleventh Annual Rubber Duckie Race hosted by the Friends of the Big Duck, will be held on Saturday, August 12 at 11 am held on Reeves Bay on the lawn of the Flanders Men’s Club, 1018 Flanders Road just east of the Big Duck. (Rain date Sunday, August 13). Rubber Duckies are $5 or $20 for 5 duckies where you will get a number for a duck, not a duck. There will be prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners. The Riverhead Polish Independent Hall Ladies Auxiliary, 118 Marcy Avenue, will host a “Polish Festival” on Saturday, August 19 at 11 am. Vendors will be on hand with their handmade crafts, jewelry, photos, paintings, and more goodies too. The Ladies Auxiliary of the Polish Hall is currently looking for new members so check it out if interested. In the meantime, enjoy authentic Polish Food, live Polka music, vendors galore and a nighttime DJ dance party.
