The owners of Lily Flanagan’s Restaurant Group will be opening a brew pub restaurant in the riverfront space formerly occupied by Peconic County Brewing Company.

The Riverhead Brew House will serve pub food with wait staff table service and a full bar, Lily Flanagan’s principal Wayne Meehan told the  Riverhead Industrial Development Agency during Monday night’s meeting.

Meehan described his company’s plans to renovate the space on the corner of McDermott Avenue and Heidi Behr Way, located on the ground floor of the Riverview Lofts apartment building, which was built with assistance from the Riverhead IDA. Meehan was seeking the IDA’s sign-off as a new tenant in the building.

He said the company plans to expand the patio in the future, with an awning system enclosure that will allow the brew pub to use the patio area year-round.

Riverhead Brew House will brew beer for all Lily Flanagan’s restaurants and pubs, Meehan said. The company operates six locations, he said. There are three locations in Babylon, two in Oakdale and one in Farmingdale, according to Lily Flanagan’s Restaurant Group’s website.

The restaurant menus feature burgers, sandwiches, tacos, wings, wraps, dinner plates, soups, salads and more. The pubs offer craft cocktails and local craft beers.

“My vision is for kids and families, not a late-night place,” Meehand told the IDA board members. “It will cater to people going to the aquarium and farms,” he said. “It’s tailor made.”

Meehan estimated that planned renovations will take two months and said he hopes Riverhead Brew House will open in May.

Board members expressed support.

“You guys have a tremendous reputation,” IDA board member Lee Mendelson told Meehan.

“We are extremely excited to welcome Wayne and his group into Riverhead,”

Riverhead Chamber of Commerce President Connie Lassandro said, speaking to the IDA board via Zoom. “They are really community-oriented,” she said.

Lassandro noted for the record that she is a consultant to developer Georgica Green Ventures, which built Riverview Lofts. She said the developer is very pleased with the tenants occupying the building, which include Mexicandy and the Long Island Selfie Studio and a taqueria yet to open.
