Peconic Bay Medical Center celebrated the opening of a new multiple specialty care medical office this morning.

The office, which opened in October, has offices for specialists in the fields of vascular surgery, neurology, nephrology; integrative wellness, hepatology, cardiology and lung transplants, as well as vascular imaging, cardiology imaging, lab/blood draws; and electroencephalogram (EEG) testing.

Located on the third floor of the office building at 889 Harrison Avenue has six exam rooms.

“At Northwell, we never get tired of these ribbon cuttings, because it’s a sign that we’re growing and to meet the needs of our communities that we serve,” said Joe Baglio, the senior vice president for eastern region ambulatory services at Northwell Health.

Amy Loeb, executive director of Peconic Bay Medical Center, said new offices are “elevating care” in the community and making it accessible to people who would otherwise put off their health care due to their distance from specialists.

“If someone needs a lung transplant, by way of example, yeah, they would have to go west for that surgery,” Loeb said. “But the care leading up to and following that needs to be close to home. That is the right thing to do for our community. And so that’s why this is so special.”

Riverhead Town Supervisor Tim Hubbard said Peconic Bay Medical Center is the “Mecca of health care on eastern Long Island.. PBMC’s presence in the town makes Riverhead “more valuable,” he said.

“We have first class healthcare in the Town of Riverhead. Our residents and the whole East End  community do not have to travel west anymore to receive that,” Hubbard said.
