A 48-year-old Ridge man was killed in a two-vehicle crash as he attempted to turn north onto Edwards Avenue from the Long Island Expressway Exit 71 eastbound off-ramp Friday morning, Suffolk County Police said.
A 2023 Hyundai Elantra operated by Scott Mancuso was struck by a southbound 2013 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Darnell Chandler, 24, of Calverton Friday morning just after 7 o’clock, according to a police press release.
Mancuso was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner, police said.
Chandler was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, according to the report.
Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks.
Suffolk County Police Department Seventh Squad detectives are investigating the crash.
