Family and Children’s Association, a human services agency based in Garden City, last week opened its THRIVE East End Recovery Center in Riverhead.
County Executive Ed Romaine, Assembly Member Jodi Giglio, Riverhead Town Board members Bob Kern and Denise Merrifield and Riverhead Town Clerk James Wooten were on hand for the ribbon-cutting of the new center located at 680 Elton Street, joining FCA management, THRIVE staff and volunteers, clients, families and friends.
As Long Island’s first recovery community and outreach center, THRIVE has been helping individuals and families find, maintain and strengthen their recovery since 2017. To date, thanks to continued funding from NYS Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS) and donors to FCA, THRIVE centers in Hauppauge, Westbury and the East End have served more than 30,000 people, the organization said in a press release.
THRIVE East End opened in Westhampton in 2021 and moved to Riverhead to provide a more centralized and larger space to serve the recovery community of the North and South Forks, FCA said.
THRIVE centers offer free, non-clinical services such as recovery coaching, peer support groups workshops, and social activities. For more information about what THRIVE has to offer, visit the Thrive website.
“Providing support at every stage of recovery, THRIVE offers a safe, welcoming haven for substance-free recreational and social activities that provide a meaningful alternative to social activities that involve substance use. All programs are free of charge,” FCA said in the press release.
“The success of the THRIVE community continues to grow through word of mouth and from the incredible support of our partners,” FCA President and Chief Executive Officer Jeffrey Reynolds said. “We know the need is real – and we’re excited to launch this new, centrally located facility to better support the East End of Long Island,” he said.
“We support individuals on their recovery journey by helping them sustain their progress and enhance their overall well-being. Together, we’re committed to ending epidemics,” Reynolds said,
Family and Children’s Services is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization whose mission is to protect and strengthen Long Island’s most vulnerable families, children, seniors, individuals, and communities.
