A wind advisory is in effect tomorrow for strong winds and gusts as high as 50 mph, associated with a clipper low from the northwest moving through the region.
West winds of 20 to 25 mph with gusts up to 45-50 mph are expected across the downstate region tomorrow behind the cold front, according to the National Weather Service in New York.
The system will bring snow and rain to interior portions of the region and periods of moderate rainfall across the East End tomorrow.
The wind advisory is in effect from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects, the weather service said in the advisory. Outdoor objects, including holiday decorations, should be secured in advance of the system.
Winds may blow down tree limbs, resulting in a few power outages, the weather service said.
High temperatures tomorrow will reach the mid-40s locally, with lows tomorrow night in the mid-20s, according to the National Weather Service forecast. Expect a mix of clouds and sun tomorrow, with showers likely in the morning, then mostly sunny with a slight chance of rain and snow showers in the afternoon, the weather service said. Clear skies and windy conditions will prevail tomorrow night.
Today’s forecast calls for sunny skies this morning, becoming mostly cloudy this afternoon, with winds from the southwest of 5-10 mph, increasing to 15-20 mph, with gusts to 30 mph. Tonight, expect rain with lows in the mid-30s.
