A massive industrial development proposed for a 30-acre parcel in Calverton will be the subject of a public meeting Nov. 5 to scope out the parameters of environmental review of the project.

The planning department is recommending an environmental impact statement be required for a proposed 425,464-square-foot industrial complex on 30 acres off Middle Country Road in Calverton.

A proposal for a new 22.9 megawatt solar facility in Calverton will go forward without further environmental review.

CMA Mine, which has a permit to mine a 20-acre site on the southwest corner of Osborn and Youngs avenues, wants to expand the mine vertically, by digging to a depth of 100 feet — 89 feet below the groundwater table — and constructing an 8.5-acre lake.

Suffolk County vector control will spray areas of Manorville and Calverton by truck Saturday from 7 p.m. to midnight with the pesticide Anvil to control adult mosquitos in the area, after another mosquito sample taken this month tested positive for EEE.
