A local family shared an emotional reunion this week with a dog they raised and turned over to Canine Companions – but was unable to continue with the program due to a medical condition.

Dog lovers and the dogs they love got together for a special Halloween festival today in Mattituck, where Canine Companions for Independence hosted a free event with live music, food and merchandise vendors and a doggie costume contest.
