Riverhead Police have charged a 16-year-old boy in connection with a threatening call made to 911 this morning that prompted a districtwide lockout in Riverhead schools.

Riverhead school buildings across the district are on a lockout this morning, following a “racist threat” made against students at Riverhead High School, according to School Superintendent Dr. Aurelia Henriquez.

After a non-specific threat that originated at a high school in Queens began circulating on social media this weekend, school officials put school buildings on lockout and kept students indoors during lunch recess, while police departments sent extra patrols to school campuses.
