Sound Justice Initiative

The Riverhead-based Butterfly Effect Project was among 15 nonprofit organizations awarded a total of $378,000 by the Long Island Unitarian Universalist Fund in support of their efforts to advance social change.

Inmates at Suffolk County Correctional Facilities are studying philosophy and other liberal arts subjects in an innovative program offered by the Sound Justice Initiative in collaboration with the Suffolk County Sheriff's office.The goal of the program is to reduce recidivism through education.
