As war rages on, Riverhead Ukrainian church continues to collect donations and ships around 300 pounds per week
As the battle to deter a Russian invasion from Ukraine continues across the Atlantic, St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church in Riverhead is shipping roughly 300 pounds of donations a week from the local community to Ukraine, according to church pastor, Rev. Bohdan Hedz.

Suffolk Theater raises $35,000 during ALL FOR UKRAINE benefit concert
The Suffolk Theater raised $35,000 for humanitarian relief in Ukraine at its ALL FOR UKRAINE benefit concert Sunday. All the money raised will go directly to three charities: Ukraine: UNICEF, Doctors Without Borders and the United Ukrainian American Relief Committee. All staff, performers and a host of local businesses donated their time, talent and services for the event.

Tradewinds is brewing Red Eyes, an American red ale, using the recipe of the Pravda Beer Theatre, a Ukrainian brewery that launched its “Victory Beer Series” international fundraising effort this weekend. All profits generated from the sale of the beer will go to Pravda’s relief fund for humanitarian aid in Ukraine, owner Duffy Griffiths said.

The local community’s response to the humanitarian aid drive organized by St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church in Riverhead has been overwhelming and uplifting, Rev. Bohdan Hedz, the church’s pastor said today. “We were hoping to fill one truckload with items by Friday,” Hedz said, “instead we filled four truckloads.”
