A 26-year-old Aquebogue man was killed in single-car accident on Northville Turnpike late last night.

Police said Ryan Dupuis was the operator and sole occupant of a vehicle that left the roadway and struck a tree on Northville Turnpike near Sound Avenue just before midnight Saturday.

Dupuis was transported by Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps to Peconic Bay Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said in a press release this morning.

The Riverhead Fire Department responded to assist at the scene, police said.

Dupuis’ vehicle was impounded for a safety check, according to the report.

The Riverhead Police Department detective division is investigating. Anyone with any information on this accident is asked to call Riverhead Police at 631-727-4500, ext. 328. All calls will be kept confidential, police said.
