Assemblyman Dan Losquadro took the oath of office today at a local ceremony at his district office in Calverton. Suffolk County District Court Judge Glenn A. Murphy administered the oath. See video.
Losquadro, who was sworn in on Jan. 3 at a ceremony in the state capital, said the local swearing-in ceremony gave him a chance to “get together locally with the people I get to represent” in Albany.
“Many of the people here today will be important allies in our efforts to make Long Island a more affordable place to live and raise a family,” Losquadro said. “As a father, I can think of no better reason to improve state government than to ensure that my son Joseph has the same opportunities that I had growing up on Long Island and the ability to raise his children here in Suffolk County.”
Losquadro, who is the former Suffolk County Minority Leader, has pledged to be a strong advocate for cutting and capping property taxes, reducing state spending and creating a business climate that promotes economic growth and encourages job creation in New York.
“There are many serious challenges facing us in 2011, but I am confident that by working together with like-minded legislators from both parties and Governor Cuomo, we can start to break the gridlock in Albany and bring tax relief and jobs to Long Island,” Losquadro said.
Losquadro pledged to make constituent service a priority, as he did as a county legislator.
“I want the men and women of the 1st Assembly District to know that my office is open for business. They should feel free to contact me to discuss any issues or concerns they may have,” Losquadro said. “Furthermore, any constituents who have issues that have not been resolved with the previous Assemblyman should contact my office to ensure that we have all the information necessary to properly address the case.”
Losquadro’s district office is located at 4466 Route 25 in Calverton. The district office’s phone number is 631-727-0204, or click here to send an e-mail.
