Riverhead’s new bowling alley had its official ribbon-cutting Thursday afternoon.
Elected officials cut a big blue ribbon at the entrance of the All Star Entertainment Center on Main Road in Riverhead.
It boasts a 22-lane bowling alley, a two-tier restaurant and sports bar, seven huge projection screens that stetch from wall-to-wall above the lanes and a full arcade with a 47 games. The seating area at each lane features leather sofas instead of the typical plastic seats or benches. And there’s a separate “VIP” room with six additional lanes adjacent to the main room for parties and exclusive bowling sessions.
“You walk in here and it just has that ‘wow’ factor to it,” said Peter Sgroi, an All-Star partner, told RiverheadLOCAL last month. See story and photo slideshow.
The All Star opened to the public for the first time on Aug. 30, with a “soft launch” to allow managers and employees to iron out the kinks before the official grand opening on Saturday, Sept. 22.
Supervisor Sean Walter praised the new business as “a world-class facility.” He thanked All Star for making the investment in Riverhead and the Riverhead IDA for providing financing and incentives “to make the dream a reality.”
“We are completely excited to have played a role in bringing this world-class entertainment facility to Riverhead,” IDA director Tracy Stark-James said.
Previous owners began construction of the bowling alley but went belly-up without completing the project. Partners Sgroi, Jeffrey Rimland and Chris Smith bought the property in a foreclosure sale in January.
