Car veers off LIE exit ramp, crashes into tree; no injuries

A vehicle that veered off an LIE exit ramp Saturday afternoon nearly ended up in the Hotel Indigo parking lot.

A BMW 335i on the exit 72 off-ramp headed for Route 25 westbound veered off the roadway at approximately 2 p.m, police said. The vehicle careened through wooded area for 300 yards before striking a tree, which stopped the vehicle, according to police. The vehicle came to rest about 30 feet from a Hotel Indigo parking lot.

A male driver and female passenger were the only occupants of the vehicle and were uninjured in the accident, police said.
