Riverhead Town Police assisted in the East End Drug Task Force arrest of two Aquebogue residents Wednesday morning.

Jeanette Howell, 56, and Rodney Dalmida, 62, were both arrested at their Shade Tree Lane residence at 11:23 a.m. on charges of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, police said.

Police declined to provide any further information about the arrest.

The pair were transported to police headquarters, processed, and held for arraignment, police said.

Third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance is a Class B Felony.

According to New York State Penal Law, a person guilty of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance if they have knowingly and unlawfully sold a narcotic drug; more than one gram of a stimulant; more than 25 milligrams of a hallucinogen; a gram or more of a hallucinogenic substance; more than a milligram of lysergic acid diethylamide; more than one-eighth ounce of preparations, compounds, mixtures or substances containing methamphetamine, its salts, isomers or salts of isomers; 250 milligrams or more of phencyclidine; or any narcotic preparation to a person less than 21 years old.

Editor’s note: A criminal charge is an accusation. By law, a person charged with a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
