The Riverhead Faculty Community Theatre is presenting a junior production Friday, Saturday and Sunday featuring 60 local kids performing a slew of classic Broadway musical numbers.
The show, “Next Stop…Broadway,” was written by Heidi Perry Hipp, who is also an assistant director. It’s the story of a young actress trying to get on Broadway and the people she meets in the process.
With Megan Schlichting as the starlet, the cast of children ages 8 to 16 belts out 16 Broadway tunes, with a number of solos that surpass expectations for cast members of such size.
This year’s show is the second consecutive one for producers Gretchen Chapman and Laura Nitti, who put together last year’s “Once on This Island Jr.”
Showtimes are Friday at 7 p.m., Saturday at 2 and 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults and $7.50 for students 17 and under. For more information go to www.rfct.org or email rfctjr@yahoo.com.
