Jamesport Fire Department members who have served in the U.S. military were honored Monday by Suffolk County Legislator Al Krupski.

Krupski presented the Suffolk County Military Service Award to Jamesport firefighters who have also served in the armed forces during Monday’s department meeting at the fire department’s headquarters.

The award is given to volunteer firefighters who are currently serving or have served in the U.S. military, and it includes an award bar insignia that is worn on the firefighter’s dress uniform to distinguish them for having military service.

“The department is very grateful to Legislator Krupski for recognizing the members’ dedication,” said Chief John Andrejack in a press release today. “It is in their nature to want to selflessly serve their community. I am not surprised we have so many members that also serve our nation.”
