The Riverhead Blue Waves suffered a tough loss yesterday to Sachem North in their last regular season home game, 9-6. The Waves jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the first quarter, but couldn’t hold on. Chris Flood led the Waves with two goals and combined with Austin Fitzpatrick and Connor Grauer to put 6 points on the board for Riverhead, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Sachem North’s 9 points. Jacob Coleman had 15 saves.

Riverhead (6-9 overall, 6-7 in League I) needs to win their next game to make the playoffs.  The Waves travel to Middle Island tomorrow (May 12) to face Longwood (4-10 overall, 3-9 in League I) at 5 p.m.

Yesterday’s last regular season home game was Senior Day for the Waves.
