A pole fire on West Main Street has the road closed to traffic between Kroemer Avenue and Mill Road this evening.
Riverhead Fire Department firefighters and fire police are at the scene. PSEG-LI has been called to shut the power to the line that’s burning just east of Kroemer Avenue.
This is the second incident involving burning power lines that caused road closures this afternoon. An earlier incident forced Sound Avenue to be closed to traffic between Herricks and Church lanes. Downed burning wires sparked a brush fire on the corner of Sound and Manor lanes.
