Lindenhurst blew past the Blue Waves yesterday at Riverhead High School.
Riverhead (0-7, 2-11) came to play, making good passes and setting up plays in the first quarter, but Lindenhurst (4-3, 7-6) countered with speed, man-to-man coverage and strong rebounding presence under the basket.
The first half ended with Riverhead trailing 43-23. The second half was no better, as Lindenhurst poured it on, scoring basket after basket, with Riverhead only getting a few baskets down low. Going into the fourth quarter, Lindenhurst had built a sizable lead, and played their bench.
After the dust settled on the hardwood, the game ended 88-48, Lindenhurst. Riverhead’s next home game is Monday, Jan. 23, at 4:30 against Walt Whitman.
