Pump up those bike tires, grab your helmet and bike to breakfast with Grandma, Grandpa, parents, the grandchildren and friends of all ages.

The Recreation Department is hoping you’ll join its intergenerational bike ride on Sunday, June. 11. Bikers should meet at Stotzky Park at 9 a.m. for the start of a relaxed ride to Briermere Farms for breakfast after which they’ll head back to Stotzky.

The event is open to people of all ages and skill levels. Danielle Doll, the department’s cultural affairs supervisor hopes families will participate in the bike ride. She encourages people of all ages who want to be more active to join the group of riders.

The bikers will be accompanied by volunteers from the Suffolk Bicycle Riders Association and at least one bicycle cop from the Riverhead Police Department.

The ride is 13 miles in total, but it will be done “at a leisurely pace in order to accommodate everyone.” A town bus will follow the group in case anyone is unable to ride the full distance.

There is a $10 fee to register for the event. Participants must wear helmets. Click here to register if you already have an account with Riverhead Rec. You can also register at the Recreation Department, 60 Shade Tree Lane in Aquebogue.
