Ostrander Avenue between Kings Drive and Elton Avenue will be closed to traffic until early afternoon due to drainage work by Riverhead highway crews.

The highway department will be replacing a crossover pipe connecting two storm drains on Ostrander Avenue, Highway Superintendent George Woodson said this morning.

Traffic will be detoured onto Kings Drive and Elton Avenue.

Crews will continue to work on South Jamesport Avenue, where last week they completed drainage work and this week are installing new curbing, Woodson said. Woodson said he plans to repave the busy north-south thoroughfare next week, depending on availability of asphalt and weather conditions.
