East End Arts has named the winners of its sixth annual national juried art show, “”Playing with Perspective.”

RJT “Toby” Haynes, whose work was chosen as “best in show” is a local watercolorist from East Hampton. Guest juror Sara De Luca named Haynes’ watercolor, “Interface” as the top entry in the field of submissions in the show.  The award entitles Haynes to receive a seven-day stay in East End Arts’ artist residence near Hamptons’ museums and galleries plus $1,000 and inclusion in a group show at Ille Arts Gallery in Amagansett.

Several other artists’ works were also recognized. First place went to “Snow Day in Central Park,” an oil on linen by William Dodge of Plainedge. Second place was awarded to “The State of Things,” a mixed media piece by Margaret Minardi of Northport and “A Little Bird Told Me,” an oil on linen by Marjorie Van de Stouwe of Oyster Bay, took third place.

“We had hundreds of entries from all over the United States,” said East End Arts gallery director Jane Kirkwood. “Our juror, Sara De Luca, was fantastic. She has an excellent eye and she was able to appreciate the multiple interpretations of the theme and allowed for a variety of ‘perspectives’ to be played with in her choices.”

The works selected for “Playing with Perspective” will be on display from August 4 through September 20 at the East End Arts Gallery, located at 133 East Main Street in Riverhead. The show will open with a reception on Friday, August 4 from 5 to 7 p.m. The public is invited to view the exhibition and meet the artists at this free event; refreshments will be served.
