Riverhead Town Police are reporting another strong-arm robbery of a Hispanic man in downtown Riverhead late last night.

The man was walking alone on Pondview Road near Franklin Street shortly before midnight and was approached by two men who punched him in the face, knocked him to the ground and removed cash from his pocket, according to a police report. The attackers, described by police only as black males, ran southbound on Pond View Road.

Police said last night’s robbery was reported to them at 11:55 p.m. A Riverhead K9 unit responded to assist in a search of the area.

Riverhead Town Police detectives are investigating. They are asking anyone who might have witnessed the incident or who may have information to assist with the investigation to call police at 631-727-4500. All calls will remain confidential, police said.

This is the third strong-arm robbery of Hispanic men by multiple attackers reported by Riverhead Town Police within the last 30 days.

A man was beaten and robbed on Union Avenue at about 9:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 2. Police said three black males in the early 20s attacked a 41-year-old man who was walking alone. Another man walking on Sandy Hollow Court on Sunday night, Aug. 27 at 11:20 p.m. was attacked and robbed by two men in their 20s, one white and one black, according to a police press release. Police have not said if they believe these recent incidents are connected.
