The Town of Riverhead is celebrating the 225th anniversary of its founding this year and the Suffolk County Historical Society has planned an exhibit in honor of the milestone. The display opens on October 14 and runs through December.
In commemoration of the town’s journey from 1792 to 2017, the museum will feature artifacts from the museum’s collection including photographs, documents, maps, and other items in its Weathervane Gallery. A complementary exhibit, In Living Color: Line Drawings of Riverhead’s Notable Landmarks, featuring drawings of historic structures depicting the diversity and beauty of Riverhead, will be on view in the Gish Gallery.
There will be a free opening reception admission at 1 p.m.on October 14. Light refreshments will be served.
The gallery hours are Wednesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
