Halloween parades

Riverhead Coffin Races – Riverhead (Free)
Saturday, October 28, 3:30 p.m.
Riverhead’s first annual Coffin Races will feature costumed racers pushing wheeled coffins – built and decorated by the racers themselves – down Griffing Avenue. Racers should check in at 3 p.m., at Joe’s Garage, with the races taking place on Heidi Behr Way along the riverfront.

Riverhead’s Halloween Festival & Parade – Riverhead (Free)
Saturday, October 28, 6:30 p.m.
Downtown Riverhead’s annual Halloween parade is back this year with costumed performers, three hours of downtown trick-or-treating and many new events and festivities. Downtown restaurants and breweries will offer specials for the event. Costumed children can go trick-or-treating at downtown businesses from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. The parade kicks off on Main Street at 6:30 p.m. After the parade, several movies, events and parties downtown will be available to choose from. Southold PTO Halloween parade – Southold (Free)
Saturday, October 28, 11 a.m.
For grades pre-K through 6. Meet at Southold Fire Department, 55135 Main Road, Southold. Activities follow at Southold Elementary School cafeteria, 420 Oaklawn Ave.

March of the Goblins & Hounds – Greenport Village (Free)
Saturday, October 28, 10:00 a.m.
The parade will begin at Floyd Memorial Library and march to Mitchell Park. There will be a costume contest, free rides on the carousel, children’s games and cotton candy and popcorn machines. An agility course and bobbing for tennis balls will be set up to amuse four-legged participants. There will be first, second and third place ribbons awarded for costumes in six categories: family, scariest, canine, canine/human duo, cutest and best homemade. Painted pumpkins created by Greenport students will be on display at the Little Red Schoolhouse on Front Street.

Mattituck Lions Club Halloween parade – Mattituck (Free)
Tuesday, October 31, 6 p.m.
The parade will begin at 6 p.m. at the fire house and then march to the school.

Cutchogue Fire Department Annual Children’s Halloween Parade – Cutchogue (Free)
Tuesday, October 31, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Cutchogue Fire Department will host its annual children’s Halloween parade, and all local children and their families are welcome to participate. The parade will start at the Cutchogue West School on Depot Lane and conclude at the firehouse, where treats and refreshments will be available. Special parade appearences will be made by the CFD Marching band and Sparky the Firedog.

Monster Mash Roller Disco at Stotzky Park – Riverhead (Free)
Thursday, October 26, 6 to 8 p.m.
It’s time to “boo”gie down! Get ready for a family-friendly monster mash of music, disco, skating, face painting, and spooky shenanigans. Everyone is welcome. Roller skate rentals available for $5; limited sizes available. Bring your own roller skates or roller blades. No long, flowing costumes permitted.

Masquerade Ball at Long Island Aquarium – Riverhead ($$$)
Friday, October 27, 8 p.m.
Step into an elegant masquerade ball in the Long Island Aquarium and Exhibition Center. Enjoy an open bar, hors devours, buffet stations, a live DJ, dancing and entertainment. Buy tickets at $69.95 per person here.

American Beech Halloween Party – Greenport (Free)
Saturday, October 28, 9 p.m.
American Beech is hosting a Halloween Costume Party, featuring DJ Andre and prizes for best costumes. No cover charge.

Southold Historical Society’s Pumpkin Patch – Southold (Free)
Oct. 29 to 31, 4 to 6 p.m.
For the third year, Southold Historical Society will have its community pumpkin patch on Halloween weekend. Hundreds of illuminated pumpkins will light up the museum complex. Bring your own Jack-O-Lantern to be included in the pumpkin patch. Battery-operated candles will be provided.

Halloween Cruises to Bug Light – Greenport ($$)
Adult Cruise: Saturday, October 28, 4 to 6 p.m.
Family Cruise: Sunday, October 29, 4 to 6 p.m.
The adult cruise will cost $39 for East End Seaport Museum members, $49 for non-members. The family cruise will cost $25 for adults and $10 for children ages 3-15.

Oysterponds Fall Festival – Orient (Free)
Saturday, October 28, 2 to 5 p.m.
This family-friendly event will take place Saturday at the Oysterponds Historical Society. Get ready for spooky stories, a cider press, games, crafts, live music, harvest demonstrations, a scavenger hunt and more. There will also be a costume parade and trick-or-treating.

A Very Halyard Halloween Party – Greenport ($)
Saturday, October 28, 10 p.m. – 2 a.m.
Party, DJ and costume contest at Halyard Restaurant (formerly Sound View Inn).

Halloween Karaoke Party at Lucharito’s – Greenport ($)
Saturday, October 28, 11 p.m.
Free for costumed participants, $5 cover charge if you come without a costume. There will be prizes for best costume and best and worst performances along with drink specials.

Haunted Houses, Mazes and Spooky Walks

Darkside Haunted House – Wading River ($)
Dates through October 31
This haunted house, set in an open field in Wading River, is one of the area’s most popular Halloween attractions. Take a walk through a haunted village and then the house itself, where professional scare actors transport their brave customers into some truly terrifying scenes. Darkside will be open every night from now until Halloween, offering daytime matinees on the weekends in addition to their nighttime sessions. Spooky Walk – East Moriches ($)
October 20, 21, 27, 28, from 7 to 9 p.m.
On the last two weekends of each October, Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck and the surrounding woods are transformed into an hour-long spooky walk, filled with hundreds of ghosts, ghouls and other scary creatures. The Spooky Walk is not only the longest-lasting haunted attraction on Long Island – it’s one of the oldest, with Spooky Walks dating back every year since 1989. The event is a fundraiser to benefit Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck, a camp for children and adults with special needs, and 100 percent of proceeds go to the camp. At the end of the walk, refreshments will be available for purchase, including hamburgers, hot dogs, roasted corn, hot pretzels and home-made candy apples, as well as tons of Spooky Walk merchandise. Harbes Spooky Night Maze – Riverhead ($)
Fridays and Saturdays through October 29
Bring your flashlights along to explore this haunted corn maze after the sun goes down. This family-friendly event is open Friday and Saturday nights through Halloween weekend. Tickets may be purchased for $13.95 each at the maze. Open from 7 to 9:30 p.m.
