With a bad rainstorm in the forecast Sunday, Riverhead’s Coffin Races have been moved to Saturday at 3:30 p.m.

The races will take place on Heidi Behr Way on the Peconic Riverfront to the rear of East End Arts, Riverhead BID executive director Diane Tucci said.

“This event must be run in dry weather for safety,” she said. “We would rather reschedule now so the races can go on and everybody can plan accordingly” instead of canceling at the last minute with no rain date planned, she said.

Tech inspection and check in will take place at 3 p.m. at Joe’s Garage.

The Halloween parade will take place that evening on Main Street. For details click here.

The “Trunk or Treat” event planned for Sunday afternoon has been canceled, Tucci said.
